Learning Objectives
• Participants will gain the ability to:
• Understand and compare all diesel fuel injection systems from mechanical to advanced electronic technologies
• Analyze fuel system behavior by linking components, operation, and engine performance
• Apply structured diagnostic methodology instead of trial-and-error maintenance
• Identify and differentiate faults across mechanical, hydraulic, and electronically controlled fuel systems
• Interpret engine symptoms such as hard starting, low power, smoke, and unstable operation based on fuel system behavior
• Evaluate the effect of injection timing, pressure, and atomization on combustion efficiency
• Recognize contamination risks and apply proper filtration and maintenance practices
• Improve troubleshooting accuracy, reducing unnecessary component replacement and downtime
• Work confidently across multiple OEM fuel system architectures (CAT, Cummins, Komatsu, Volvo, Perkins)
• Apply logical diagnostic thinking to real heavy equipment engine conditions
